Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. His listing is for a vintage Conn 10M "Naked Lady" Bb tenor saxophone. The serial number is 355, xxx, indicating a c.

That makes it a 2nd generation 10M. The 2nd generation 10M is basically the same as the 1st, except that they had discontinued rolled tone holes by the time this one was made.

This one still has wire key guards and brass key-work. The octave pip is the "tea cup" style. It has a G# trill key, but not that pesky forked Eb mechanism. This horn is in excellent physical condition.

The body is perfectly straight. The neck has not suffered from any pull down, or other damage. There are no dents or dings. There's hardly more than a couple super tiny nicks actually. No signs of past dent work. There are no re-soldered joints. All of the key guards are nice and straight. The key-work is all operating smoothly and all rollers are turning freely. The lacquer is original, however there is a bit of an odd wear pattern that I'd like to describe.

There are large swaths on the bell and the back of the body where it appears that a top layer of lacquer has flaked off, but there is still lacquer remaining. I'm guessing that this horn, like many other brands, received a final post production coat of lacquer over the entire instrument, and that this is what is flaking off for whatever reason.

The outer coating that remains is darker, and the lacquer revealed where it has flaked off is lighter. This makes sense, as the undercoating would have been protected from aging by the outer. Also, when I say "flaking", I don't mean that it is literally actively flaking off, just that it appears to have come off in that manner, as opposed to having been worn through by contact. I would say that the overall coverage of the lacquer is 95%.

There is just a bit of wear all the way down to brass on the neck, and a few other minor contact points. The lighter areas of the horn total maybe an additional 30-40%. Frankly, I think it is a bit of a non-issue, but I wanted to be upfront about it. This sax is in excellent playing condition.

It plays easily from top to bottom, as you can hear in the demonstration video below. The tone on this one is marginally brighter/more focused than another 10M I have for sale.

It is perfect for any type of jazz, rock, R&B, etc. Not really a classical horn though.

The pads are older, but still in very good condition and sealing well. They are a mix of true Conn Reso pads (not the originals of course), and standard modern pads fitted with flat metal resonators to match the others. All pads are sealing properly with a light touch, and there is no'lost motion'. This horn is ready to play right out of the case!

See the product in action. Speaking of the case, this sax comes in a nice modern Pro Tec brand case. It is dark blue with black trim. It has two handles and a shoulder strap. There are two exterior pockets to fit lots of accessories.

A Jean Cavallaro neck pouch is also included, so you can stow the neck inside the bell. The case is in excellent condition both inside and outside. Please note that there is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included with this sax, except for a plastic end plug. This is an excellent horn for the serious professional or amateur player. It is probably best suited to adults, or at least very serious student players.

2nd generation 10M's, such as this one, are great'player's horns' because they embody much of the same qualities as the 1st generation horns, but for a lower price. This one, incidentally, was used for a long time by a pro player. This sax will definitlely not disappoint!
