Here we have a freshly rebuilt Series II King Zephyr from 1955. This horn has been rebuilt with a clean oil adjustment and fully re-padded. The horn seals great and the original lacquer is in quite good shape with wear in some usual contact spots. This version of the Zephyr has much better ergonomics in its key work compared to the earlier versions which had extremely frustrating plateu keys. The neck had been pulled down in the past (notice the lacquer wear on the side of the neck) but has been corrected and seals wonderfully. The horn has all of its original rollers and pearl touch pieces. I believe this saxophone was engraved by a school or some kind of institution as there is another engraved serial number above the manufactured one. It has been said these horns share the same bell design as the King Super 20 and to my ears, that sounds about right!
