Please scroll to the very bottom of description for 3 00+ pictures! For sale is a gorgeous 1959 Martin Committee III aka The Martin Tenor saxophone with glorious original lacquer!
This horn is just beautiful! This horn is engraved top to bottom with lush extravagant American engraving with the full treatment! Im a huge engraving fan and the large canvas of engraving on these Martins is just spectacular. This is one of those horns that just looks so beautiful to the eye that every moment with it is pure joy! This horn is a 1959 serial #205, xxx from the prime era Martin right in the pocket when the best horns were coming out! This horn was minimally used in high school school by a player for 1 year in 1959 and then put back in its case. This saxophone comes with its original Martin hard shell orange case with logo still intact! These cases are hard wood and worth a pretty penny. This saxophone ships with its Martin tenor sax mouthpiece! These mouthpieces are highly collectible and valuable as a standalone mouthpiece. This mouthpiece sells for hundreds upon hundreds alone. Many players like to have these mouthpieces refaced by there favorite refacer and make them a main mouthpiece or sell them from there.. This saxophone ships with its matching metal end plug! This saxophone ships with its original case keys still!!!
This saxophone hasn't been used in 60 years and is not functioning. To make this a playable horn you will have to pay for your own full mechanical overhaul and pad job from your favorite tech! This saxophone is an antique and throughout has its fair share of scratches, Knicks, dings, dents, fleabites, metal wear of various colors, laq wear, patina and other anomalies associated with such an old horn!
This saxophone will need a full pad job to be playable. Once you get the work done on this saxophone its going to be an amazing playing piece! The body is an excellent candidate and 99% of other Martins you will find will be in way worst shape, typically with some kind of disastrous flaw. Its rare to find a piece this nice ready to be plucked up!
These are some of my favorite vintage American horns to play. I love playing Conn's, Bueschers etc but theres something unique about the huge sound of Martin's that make them so much fun to play! Where the Martin's really excel compared to say Conn 10ms or Buescher Big Bs are that the ergonomics are really terrific and much more comfortable to some others horns. The left pinky table is a breeze and you can easily maneuver around! I think this is a tremendous horn and the new owner is going to love the horn! The item "Martin Committee III Tenor Sax with Original Case + end plug + mouthpiece" is in sale since Thursday, March 12, 2020.
