Beautiful 1948 Holton "241" Tenor Saxophone. These were top of the line for Holton.
While not a Selmer Mk VIII it is still a very good vintage horn with a very nice sound and feel. Plays well and has a nice vintage sound depending on your skill and choice of mouthpiece and reed.
Sax is clean and fresh. Actually so is the case, not some stinky old horn and case. The very nice Frost and Stone case may or may not be original but it is of the same time period and in equally nice condition. Nice tweed, leather on the handles, latches that work, clean, has a spot for a flute in the lid. Also could probably carry a clarinet too. The neck has a lot of lacquer wear as normal. Sax was probably re-lacquered some years ago. It looks too nice to be original at its age.
The engraving is sharp and clear. The sax has no major dents, or scratches. There is small spot just above the bell (shown in the photo) that is on the player side so it doesn't even show when playing.
