King Super 20 Silver Sonic Tenor Saxophone. Excellent Condition - Single Socket Neck - Gold-Washed Sterling Silver Bell w/ Gold Inlay Engraving - Sterling Neck. This extraordinary King Super 20 Silver Sonic is an absolutely amazing player and in fantastic condition for the vintage of the horn. This horn is very rare insofar as it has both a gold-wash, sterling silver bell and gold-inlay engraving.
She's a spectacular work of art! Many of the Silver Sonic horns did not have the gold-wash or gold inlay.
The horn has been recently fully gone thru - all pads, corks, felts and springs are in great condition and the horn has been professionally regulated for optimal playing. She sings, with the sound, resonance and brilliance that the King Super 20s are famed for - huge, ballsy, resonant tone that the American saxophones were famous for. The intonation and resonance of the horn are fantastic for its vintage. She sings from low-Bb way into the altissimo registers. The Silver Sonic horns were King's top of the line horn and played by legends such as Cannonball Adderley & Yusef Lateef.
As a professional player, endorsed with Selmer, Theo Wanne, Oleg and other manufacturers, I can professionally vouch for this amazing horn. Though I play on Oleg or Selmer horns most of the time, I keep a Silver Sonic of this vintage for certain work situations that the unique sound the horn produces is required.
