King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone - Series V (SN - 466xxx). Spectacular Player / Fast Action / HUGE Sound. This King Super 20 Tenor is a "Series V" of the historic King Super 20 series of horns. This epoch of Super 20s were the 1st series to be made in the East Lake King factory, but made primarily of parts from the Cleveland factory. This series went to a single-tenon neck joint as the double-tenon turned out to be an experiment not so well received. As some collectors feel that the earlier Series II, III & IV series were of better quality, the truth is that the Series Vs are some of the best players around. This horn is a prime example of this.

The horn sings from bottom way into the altissimo ranges with the classic, bold and vibrant King Super 20 sound that legends played. Cannonball Adderley, Yusef Lateef, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and other masters swore by these horns. The finish on this horn is a rich, dark gold lacquer that is upwards of 80% still on the horn. The Series Vs included the famed "underslung" octave key, but went to a single tenon design, more like all other saxophones the double tenon design had leak issues...

This horn feel incredible in the hands, is very responsive and has a brilliant color and sound. Intonation is great for this era of horn. The horn has just been regulated for professional playing and sings.

New neck cork and various other corks replaced, all pads seated, etc... She comes in the original King case that is in very good condition. As a professional player, recording artist and bandleader, endorsed by most of the top manufacturers on the planet - Selmer Paris / Conn-Selmer, Oleg Products, Theo Wanne, Silverstein Works and others, I vouch for this masterpiece of a saxophone. I would keep in my collection as it's that good, but need to pass it on to a player who will use it regularly with love.
